Petersen Aluminum offers its line of SS Airflow systems, designed specifically with commercial buildings in mind. Highly suitable for both shingle and standing seam metal roofs, the system allows for balanced intake and exhaust ventilation to provide optimal airflow, greatly increasing the roof’s longevity and energy efficiency.
Petersen offers a complete line of ventilation products, which in unison, provide consistent airflow under the roof covering:
- PAC SS Vented Eave
- PAC Eco Eave Vent
- PAC SS Rake Fascia/Rake Panel
- PAC SS Ridge Vent
PAC SS Ridge Vents
The PAC SS Ridge Vents, working in conjunction with the intake ventilation systems, are guaranteed to provide the proper exhaust airflow at the ridge. This consistent airflow prevents the build-up of heat and moisture under the roof covering to maximize the life of the roof.
PAC SS Ridge Vents are available in five versions:
- Slope to Slope – Shingled version
- Slope Roof to High Wall
- Sloped Roof to Vertical Wall
- Sloped Roof to Flat Roof
All four versions are engineered to each project’s specific conditions and Net Free Area (NFA) requirements. The sturdy all-metal construction allows it to withstand heavy snow loads and provide long-term aesthetics. Convenient 12’ lengths along with pre-punched holes and snap-on covers provide quicker installation, resulting in lower labor costs.
Factory-fabricated endcaps and miters are also available, ensuring a cleaner, more precise fit and eliminating the need for field fabrication.
Importance of Ventilation
Plain and simple, proper airflow designed into the roof structure will extend the life of the roof. Premature re-roofing is expensive, and inconvenient to the building occupants. Without consistent and balanced airflow and proper NFA, moisture build-up will occur, which can damage the roof covering over time. Temperature fluctuations will cause snow melting and refreezing, resulting in ice dams on the roof that can cause structural damage as well as hazards to life and property on the ground.
In addition, providing constant air movement prevents heat build-up in the summer and heat loss in the winter, resulting in a more sustainable building with lower operating costs.
PAC SS Airflow systems, designed specifically for ventilation needs at the eave and the ridge of each project, contribute to the green roof system for superior sustainability and life-cycle value.
