For the third straight month, the Architecture Billings Index (ABI) has gone up.

As a leading economic indicator of construction activity, the ABI reflects the approximate 9- to 12-month lag time between architecture billings and construction spending. The American Institute of Architects (AIA) reported that the April ABI rating was 48.5, up from a reading of 46.1 the previous month. The score is the highest since January 2008, when revenue at architecture firms headed into recession.

PETERSEN METAL ROOFING PANELS PROVIDE SIGNATURE LOOK FOR COMMUNITY CLUBHOUSE

The clubhouse at the new Bay Forest residential community in Ocean View, DE provides a signature look for the 800-home development by Natelli Communities, Gaithersburg, MD.

Approximately 11,500 sq. ft. of Petersen Snap-Clad metal roofing panels were used on the clubhouse.  An additional 3,500 sq. ft. of Snap-Clad panels were used on the tennis pavilion and postal facility.  The .032 aluminum panels were finished in Silver.

More Metal Roofing Retrofit Predicted for 2010

As buildings age and budgets tighten, there is bound to be additional focus on rehab/remodel work. Reroofing with metal over old, failed roof systems has been a popular choice for decades and always sees a surge in popularity during economic downturns. I expect to see more of this during 2010 and beyond.
