Energy Secretary Chu has announced that the DOE is awarding more than $185 million in funding under the ARRA for over 40 industrial energy efficiency projects. Those awards are for heat and power systems, district energy systems, and grants to support technical and financial assistance to local industry. The industrial efficiency projects are expected to result in almost 14 trillion Btu in energy savings. Remaining awards will provide local technical support to the industrial sector through university based industrial assessment centers, state agencies , regional partnerships, and a national technical assistance provider. They will offer technical and financial support for local businesses and manufacturing facilities to save energy and reduce their energy costs.
