Energy Innovation Fund

In the Fiscal Year 2010 appropriations bill signed by Pres. Obama approximately $50 million was included for an Energy Innovation Fund as part of the appropriations for HUD.  The Energy Innovation Fund will speed the process being used by FHA and the new Office of Sustainability to bring innovations in energy efficiency to the residential market.  It will also help to create a market for home energy efficiency retrofits.  Half of the funding is designated for an Energy Efficient Mortgage Innovation pilot program which will be directed toward single -family homes.  To supplement these efforts, the Department of Labor will receive $40 million to train workers for careers in the energy efficiency and renewable energy market.
