IECC

The New Buildings Institute (NBI), AIA and DOE proposed changes to the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC). Those changes are now one step closer to adoption by ICC.  The proposals would result in 20-25% energy savings over the current code. The proposed  changes affect insulation levels, HVAC efficiency, lighting efficiency and other energy efficiency measures.  The prescriptive changes would require commissioning but the proposal also allows for alternative compliance paths using renewable energy sources.  Since the proposed changes have now been approved by committee, they will be presented at the IECC Final Action Hearings.  If passed at that hearing, they will become part of the 2012 energy code.
