Google has introduced their PowerMeter progam which is a free energy monitoring tool for saving energy. The Google PowerMeter allows one to view a home’s energy consumption from anywhere online. It uses utility smart meters and energy monitoring devices to provide the data for the tool. It can identify those appliances that are continuously on, and indicate when maximum energy is being consumed at different times of day.
Device partners for Google PowerMeter, such as the Envi, work by placing two sensor clamps around incoming power cables which are then connected to a transmitter. For more information visit www.Google.com/powermeter.
