Manufacturing costs of PV have dropped 20% with every doubling in volume. A new process from SunFab was introduced in 2007. Based on flat screen television technology, it uses nanotechnology to turn thin pieces of glass the size of a garage door into solar panels, at low cost. This process has helped make Applied Materials the world’s leading supplier of photovoltaic manufacturing equipment.
