Installation of solar energy systems jumps

Installation of solar energy systems jumped across the country in 2011. In 2010, 887 megawatts worth of systems were installed and last year, 1,855 megawatts were put in, according to a report from GTM Research and the Solar Energy Industries Association. The number of residential solar energy projects climbed 11%, while non-residential solar installation projects increased 28%. Installations of solar energy systems this year are expected to increase by 35% to 50%, according to the report.
