According to a report from the New Buildings Institute, net zero energy commercial buildings are becoming more mainstream and don’t need to cost more. The report analyzes verified zero energy buildings in US and Canada and found nothing outside the available technology today. The buildings did share common strategies including natural daylighting, high efficiency lighting and high performance envelopes with increased insulation and well insulated glazing.
