The Albany County State Supreme Court dismissed a lawsuit.

The Albany County State Supreme Court dismissed a lawsuit that sought to exempt New York State from participating in a multi-state Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI). In 2005, New York State, along with a handful of other states in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region, committed to curbing greenhouse gas emissions from coal-fired power plants by creating a cap and trade carbon market. Meanwhile, neighboring New Jersey pulled out of RGGI and is facing a lawsuit by environmental groups who claim New Jersey’s Governor, Chris Christie, failed to follow due process.
