Aiming for LEED Silver Status

Current construction photo of the project – closing in on roof panel installation.

Petersen’s Acworth, GA factory began working on this project almost two years ago with roofing contractor, Hamlin Roofing of Garner, NC. Panel shipment for this job is anticipated in the next month, moving towards a projected occupancy of the building in January, 2012. The project is aiming for LEED Silver Status, with PAC products contributing towards points in the Materials and Resources category for incorporation of materials containing recycled content. Copper is 100% recyclable to reduce future landfill waste, and is also produced from 90 – 95% recycled copper. The Dental Sciences Building is the latest UNC effort to support the university’s sustainability initiatives. Check back to see the progression of this magnificent project from panel production through installation and completion.
