Wooded retirement community roofed with 150,000 sq. ft. of Snap-Clad panels

Nestled in a semi-tropical paradise on an arm of the St. John’s River near Jacksonville, Fla., the new Westminster Woods on Julington Creek retirement community offers active seniors an ideal setting. The wooded campus of nearly 90 acres combines neighborhoods of detached villas, and garden and waterfront apartment homes.

Approximately 150,000 sq. ft. of Petersen Aluminum’s Snap-Clad architectural standing seam metal roofing panels in 24-gauge Galvalume Plus was used on 47 villa-style homes. The long-term performance of Snap-Clad panels may have been the main objective for specifying the PAC-CLAD system but that wasn’t the only factor. The panels offer excellent resistance to wind uplift and have Florida Building Code approval. The panels also provide low maintenance and a welcoming, attractive appearance for residents and visitors alike.

The 16-in. wide panels were produced with striations at Petersen Aluminum’s Acworth, Ga., plant. The panels were installed by Mac Johnson Roofing Co., Gainesville. The Petersen Aluminum distributor was Gulfeagle Supply, also in Gainesville.

Architectural design was created by Basham & Lucas Design Group, Jacksonville.
