Copper Snap Clad Panels Top Alabama National Cemetery Admin Office

Located 15 miles south of Birmingham, AL, The Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL is a 479-acre site designed to serve the needs of veterans for at least the next 50 years. The National Cemetery Act of 2003 authorizes the establishment of new national cemeteries to serve veterans in areas which have veteran populations exceeding 170,000. The Birmingham area was one of six areas in the United States designated for national cemetery development.

Phase I, opened for interments in 2009, consists of 45 acres, enough to house facilities to maintain the site and provide burials for the next 10 years. Included is the Administration Office Building, which was completed in the Spring of 2011. The statuesque building is topped with Petersen Aluminum Snap-Clad standing seam metal panels, rollformed in 16 oz copper. The system incorporated high-temperature peel and stick membrane, the suitable underlayment for installation of copper panels. Copper panels were selected to provide the desired long-life as well as aesthetics.
